On October 6, 2024, officials from the Port Authority of Keratsini took decisive action by arresting a 43-year-old Indian Master of the tanker 'Trend'. This arrest followed violations of article 291 par. 1 (A) and (D) of the P. K. (Dangerous interference with transport) and article 43 of Decree Law 187/73 "PERI KDND", which outlines the obligations expected of ship captains. The 'Trend', which was en route from Algeria with a crew of 17, had recently docked at Piraeus anchorage. The day prior, on October 5, the vessel reported a malfunction in one of its two generators. Following an inspection, authorities discovered that not only the reported generator but both generators were non-operational, a fact that had not been communicated to the Port Authority. As a result, the tanker has been prohibited from sailing until the necessary repairs are made and a class maintenance certificate is presented from the relevant classification society. While the investigation is ongoing, conducted by the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, the tanker remains at anchor, with a tug on standby for potential assistance. As of October 8, the vessel is still stationary at coordinates 37° 55' N 023° 34' E.
