The Ums-albedo: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

The vessel UMS-Albedo was detained on November 4, 2025, in Kocaeli due to 19 identified deficiencies, six of which were classified as serious enough to warrant detention. The issues included critical failures in life-saving appliances, particularly the inflatable liferafts which were found not ready for use. Additionally, emergency systems were lacking; emergency lighting and batteries failed to meet required standards, and there were no records of the necessary enclosed space entry and rescue drills. Fire safety protocols were also compromised, with fire doors and openings within fire-resistant divisions not functioning as required, alongside deficiencies in the fire detection and alarm system. Furthermore, the ISM certificate records were not properly maintained. After addressing these issues, the UMS-Albedo was released on November 13. The vessel subsequently departed from Kocaeli and made its way to Nea Karvali, arriving on November 16 and successfully berthing on November 18.

A vessel has been officially laid up in Bremen, capturing attention on December 14, 2013. This status signifies a temporary halt in operations, reflecting current maritime trends.
