On December 9, 2018, at approximately 11:10 PM, the bulk carrier 'Glovis Maple' was targeted by armed robbers while it was anchored at Cam Pha, Vietnam, specifically at the coordinates 20°55'12" N, 107°17'41" E. The assailants, whose exact number remains unknown, boarded the vessel using a wooden boat, gaining access through the anchor chain hawse pipe after removing its cover. Once on board, they forcibly broke the lock on the forecastle entrance and disengaged an additional securing lashing. During the incident, the thieves made off with various ship's property but fortunately did not cause any injuries to the crew members onboard. Authorities are investigating the incident to enhance security measures in the region.
