On March 26, 2019, at approximately 4 p.m., the ferry 'Universal MK 2014' encountered a significant engine failure, resulting in an allision with the Waterfront Promenade Pier in Hong Kong. The incident was triggered when the vessel lost power due to a malfunction in its starboard side main engine, combined with an issue in the port side water jet system. At the time of the accident, the ferry was carrying 150 passengers; fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the bow of the vessel sustained minor damage, necessitating subsequent repairs to restore it to operational status.
