Working Conditions Aboard the Vaeroy

On June 5, 2026, the ferry Værøy, which operates on the Bodø–Røst–Værøy–Moskenes route, faced unexpected technical difficulties, leading to the cancellation of its 4:00 p.m. sailing from Bodø to Moskenes as well as the 8:00 p.m. departure back to Bodø. Fortunately, passengers were not left stranded as the ferry Landegode successfully completed the scheduled service at 5:00 p.m., ensuring continuity in transportation despite the disruption. Maritime travelers are advised to stay updated on service changes as authorities address the technical problems.

On May 19, 2017, at precisely 7:10 p.m., the ferry 'Værøy' experienced a significant engine blackout while navigating approximately one hour from Røst in the scenic Vestfjord. This unexpected situation resulted in the vessel drifting southward for a short duration. Fortunately, after 25 minutes, the passengers received reassuring news that the engines had restarted. Investigations revealed that a human error was responsible for this incident, which also triggered the ship's fire alarm. The 'Værøy' had departed from Bodø at 4 p.m., with its intended destinations being Røst and ultimately Værøy.
