The vessel was making its way from Nowshahr, Iran, to Astrakhan when it ran aground at the 153.4-kilometre mark. Reports from the Russian Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) indicate that the Vafa-3 has been unable to free itself. In response to the situation, the Captain of the Port of Olya has imposed a suspension on vessel traffic in the canal near the aground vessel during nighttime hours to ensure safety. Current data from Lloyd’s List Intelligence AIS shows the Vafa-3 remains stranded at coordinates 045 04 14N, 047 41 31E, which places it approximately 43 nautical miles from Olya as of 07:03 hours today.

On November 3, 2014, at 3:23 PM local time, the State Maritime Administration of Azerbaijan responded promptly to the distress signals from the cargo vessel 'Amur 2504.' The incident occurred while the ship was navigating Azerbaijan's territorial waters on its way to Anzali port when it unexpectedly ran out of fuel. Thanks to the swift actions of the maritime authorities, the vessel received the necessary assistance and was able to resume its journey the following day, November 4, at 11:30 AM.
