On March 22, 2011, at approximately 2:35 p.m., the Panama-flagged cargo vessel m/v 'Rubicone' (IMO: 8701947) was involved in an allision incident in the Vorwerk port of Luebeck. The vessel, which was in the process of being towed by the tug 'Axel', accidentally collided with two moored vessels, namely the 'Baltica' at berth 2 and the Swedish ferry 'Vkingland' (IMO: 7718541). The incident occurred as the 'Rubicone' was being maneuvered astern to load grain at the Rautenberg Silo, when a sudden gust of wind forced it against the stationary ships. Thankfully, none of the 19 crew members aboard the 'Rubicone' sustained any injuries. As a result of the allision, the cargo ship's departure, originally scheduled for March 24, will be delayed pending a thorough inspection to ensure seaworthiness before resuming its voyage.
