Freighter and Fishing Boat Collide in La Gi Waters

Feb 26, 2021 18:38

On February 26, 2021, at 8:30 a.m., the freighter 'Vietsun Confident' collided with the fishing vessel 'KH 00737 TS', which weighs 75 tons and was carrying eight fishermen from Khanh Hoa. The incident occurred while the vessels were navigating through the La Gi waters, approximately nine nautical miles south of the La Gi estuary in Binh Thuan Province, located at coordinates 10Β°30'15"N 107Β°45'54"E. The cargo ship, which is equipped with a crew of 18, was transporting over 6,700 tons of goods from Ho Chi Minh City to Nghe An. Fortunately, the crew of the freighter, along with nearby fishing boats, successfully rescued all eight fishermen and brought them safely ashore. Following the collision, the captain of the 'Vietsun Confident' promptly contacted the Binh Thuan port authority for assistance. The damaged 'KH 00737 TS' was scheduled to be taken to the La Gi fishing port for necessary repairs. Meanwhile, the 'Vietsun Confident' resumed its journey towards Nghe An. In response to the situation, the Provincial Command of the Border Guard instructed the Phuoc Loc Border Guard in La Gi town to work alongside local authorities to ensure the wellbeing of the rescued fishermen and provide any needed support.

Mechanical Issues Delay MCP Troodos on St-Lawrence River

Dec 31, 2011 15:00

On December 30, 2011, the MCP Troodos, while navigating downward on the St. Lawrence River, suffered mechanical difficulties that forced it to halt near Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly. The crew encountered issues with the vessel's suction pumps, which hampered its operations. Despite efforts to rectify the situation over several hours and awaiting clearance from Transport Canada for departure, the ship was ultimately permitted to resume its eastbound journey later that evening.
