Statoil Increases Commitment to Eidesvik's Viking Energy with Two-Year Charter Extension
Statoil has announced a two-year extension of its charter for the Viking Energy, an innovative LNG-fuelled Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) operated by Eidesvik Offshore. This new agreement will take effect at the conclusion of the vessel's current contract in April 2016. Furthermore, the contract includes an option for an additional one-year extension, as revealed in a recent filing by Eidesvik, whose shares are traded on Oslo's stock exchange. CEO Jan Fredrik Meling expressed satisfaction regarding Statoil's decision to continue this longstanding relationship, noting that Viking Energy was a trailblazer as the world’s first LNG-fuelled PSV upon its delivery in 2003. The vessel has consistently operated under Statoil’s charter since its launch, reinforcing the strong partnership between the two companies.
