Eidesvik Secures Contract with Saipem for PSV 'Viking Queen'

Feb 22, 2018 10:17

Eidesvik, a prominent Norwegian vessel owner, has recently been awarded a significant contract with Saipem for the Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) 'Viking Queen.' This contract aims to assist the pipe-laying activities of the vessel 'Castorone.' The 'Castorone' will play a crucial role in laying pipelines from the Johan Sverdrup field within the Norwegian sector of the North Sea to the Mongstad and Kårstø oil and gas terminals located in Norway. Back in December 2015, Statoil, representing the Johan Sverdrup partners, granted Saipem an installation contract dedicated to the Johan Sverdrup export pipelines project. Under this contract, Saipem is tasked with the installation of a 156 km long, 18-inch gas export pipeline connecting to the Kårstø gas terminal, as well as a substantial 282 km, 36-inch oil export pipeline intended for the Mongstad terminal. The operational timeline for the 'Viking Queen' is projected to last between 100 and 160 days, with activities expected to commence in March or April of 2018. (Source: Subsea World News)
