On June 4, 2018, at 6 PM, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) in Port Elizabeth swiftly launched the lifeboat 'Spirit of Toft' for an urgent medical evacuation. The operation targeted the vessel 'Vishva Preeti,' which was navigating through the Nelson Mandela Bay, having set sail from Argentina. A 28-year-old female crew member was in need of immediate assistance due to a suspected miscarriage. Thankfully, the patient was reported to be in a stable condition at the time of her evacuation, and she was accompanied by her husband. Once safely onboard the lifeboat, she received care from an EMS rescue paramedic before being transported to Port Elizabeth, where she was conveyed to a local hospital by EMS ambulance for further medical attention.
