Shipping Corporation of India Welcomes New Supramax Bulk Carrier MV Vishva Prerna

On November 1, 2023, the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) proudly announced the delivery of the MV Vishva Prerna, a Supramax bulk carrier with a gross tonnage of 33,185 tonnes and a deadweight capacity of 57,161 tonnes. This impressive vessel, which complies with the latest stringent international maritime regulations, is classified with DNV and IRS. The MV Vishva Prerna is the second of the six Supramax bulk carriers ordered by SCI from STX (Dalian) Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, China, back in December 2007. The remaining four vessels in this order are expected to be delivered in a phased manner by March 2012. These new additions will serve as replacements for SCI's aging Daewoo series Handymax bulk carriers, built between 1986-87, thereby significantly enhancing the age profile of SCI's bulk carrier fleet.
