On September 13, 2018, at 8:15 p.m., an incident occurred on the River Don near the port of Azov involving the cargo vessel 'Vodla 2' and the m/v 'Comanche.' The collision resulted in minor damages above the waterline to both vessels. At the time of the accident, the 'Vodla 2,' which was navigating from Rostov-on-Don towards Amoliapolis and was expected to arrive on September 19, was transporting 4,000 tonnes of grain in bulk. Meanwhile, the 'Comanche' was operating in a ballast condition. Following the collision, it was reported that 'Vodla 2' sustained deformation to its port side foreship. Repairs were carried out under the supervision of the classification society before the vessel continued to its destination, the Kavkaz anchorage. On the other hand, the 'Comanche' experienced structural deformations on its starboard side, affecting the railings, bulwark, and supporting stanchion of the hatch-cover decks. Repairs for 'Comanche' were completed without class supervision, and after loading operations were finalized on September 22, the vessel also made its way to the Kavkaz anchorage. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of maritime navigation in busy waterways.
