Disabled Cargo Vessel Rescued and Towed to Port Angeles
On May 19, 2014, the cargo vessel 'Westwood Columbia' experienced a power failure while navigating the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Neah Bay. The ship, which was laden with lumber and various cargo, encountered the issue while operating in Canadian waters. Responding promptly to the distress, an emergency tug stationed at Neah Bay arrived on the scene and successfully towed the disabled vessel to Port Angeles in under an hour. Once docked, technicians began addressing what was suspected to be an electrical malfunction. Before resuming its journey, the 'Westwood Columbia' underwent a thorough inspection by the Coast Guard and was cleared to set sail on May 22, heading towards Longview.
