On September 10, 2019, an incident occurred in the waters north-northeast of Tecumseh when the bulk carrier 'Whitefish Bay' collided with the tugboat 'Bowditch'. The maritime accident took place at coordinates 42° 23' 15.4" N, 82° 52' 01.6" W, approximately four miles from Tecumseh. The 'Bowditch' was in the process of being overtaken by the 'Whitefish Bay' at the time of the collision. Fortunately, both vessels were able to resume their respective journeys shortly after the incident, with minimal disruption to their operations.

On May 12, 2018, at approximately 4:45 PM, the bulk carrier 'Whitefish Bay' experienced a significant main engine failure while navigating off the coast of Thunder Bay, Ontario, at coordinates 48°24'N and 89°10'W.
