Wilson Bergen Detained Due to Drunk Crew Members During Øresund Transit
On April 28, 2017, the cargo ship Wilson Bergen was apprehended by Danish authorities after a crew member exhibited signs of intoxication during a routine radio communication. The incident occurred while the vessel was navigating the Øresund Strait, prompting the officials to instruct it to anchor south of Drogden Lighthouse, located near Amager. In response, the Danish Navy ship MHV Carina was dispatched to the scene, carrying police and a medical professional. Upon arrival, the doctor conducted blood tests and discovered that several crew members, including officers, had blood alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit of 0.5 per thousand. Following the evaluation, the Wilson Bergen was officially released from detention on April 29 at noon. At the time of the incident, the ship was making its way from Szczecin to Alvik.
