On the afternoon of June 28, 2012, a significant incident occurred at the Inner Port of Emden when the cargo vessel 'Wilson Caen' collided with the 'E-Ship 1.' The 'Wilson Caen', which had just arrived from Rotterdam and was being piloted, experienced a total engine blackout as it approached its berth at the North Quay from the Sea Lock. This unexpected failure left the vessel unable to maneuver and resulted in a collision with the 'E-Ship 1', which was already docked at the quay. Fortunately, both vessels sustained only minor damages from the incident. The local authorities from Emden have since initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
