Devastating Incident: Wilson Dover Collides with Skagen Quay

Aug 28, 2014 09:29

On the early morning of August 25, 2014, the cargo vessel 'Wilson Dover' met with a catastrophic incident as it approached the port of Skagen. Arriving from Bremerhaven, the ship lost engine power and was unable to halt its momentum. At approximately 6:30 a.m., the vessel collided with the Sildemels Quay, resulting in a significant impact that caused several shipping containers to topple over. The situation escalated as the ship continued forward, striking the transversing berth with its bulbous bow, which led to substantial structural damage including a large hole and a subsequent road collapse. Fortunately, the 'Wilson Dover' sustained only minor damage and successfully docked at the factory quay. It remained there until August 27 before departing for Hellvik, with an estimated time of arrival set for August 28.
