Heroic Rescue at Sea: Wilson Narvik Saves Stranded Sailors
On the morning of May 1, 2012, the cargo vessel 'Wilson Narvik' undertook a remarkable mission by rescuing two stranded German sailors approximately 550 nautical miles west of the Azores. The sailors were aboard the catamaran 'blu:kat', which faced severe water ingress, compelling them to abandon ship and take refuge in a life raft. After contacting their relatives in Germany, the situation was urgently communicated to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) in Bremen, which then notified the MRCC in Ponta Delgada. Shortly thereafter, the 'Wilson Narvik' came to their aid, successfully retrieving the sailors and continuing on its journey to Algeciras. The ill-fated 'blu:kat' was making its way from the Caribbean Sea to Seville when disaster struck.
