Cargo Ship 'Chaves' Experienced Bow-Down Incident in Hamburg
On the morning of July 17, 2015, the cargo vessel 'Chaves' encountered a concerning situation while docked at warehouse 69/70 in the bustling port of Hamburg. The ship developed a notable starboard list, prompting a witness to alert local authorities. Upon their arrival, police found themselves unable to board the vessel due to the crew resting on board. In response to the listing, additional mooring lines were deployed to stabilize the ship. Investigations revealed that the starboard ballast water tanks had been intentionally flooded to facilitate repairs on a minor gash located at the port side stern. Later that day, the 'Chaves' was moved to Harburg for necessary repairs. Following the completion of work, the vessel set sail from Hamburg, headed for Antwerp, at 9 a.m. on July 18.
