Cargo Fire Erupts Aboard Wilson Sky in Amsterdam
On December 31, 2015, a significant fire occurred in the cargo hold of the vessel 'Wilson Sky' while docked at Oceanen Way in Amsterdam around 9 a.m. Emergency fire crews responded promptly to control the flames, using foam to extinguish the fire effectively. To facilitate firefighting efforts and prevent further smoldering of the cargo, a crane was employed to empty the affected hold. At the time of the incident, the 'Wilson Sky' was in the process of unloading a shipment of flour. Investigations revealed that the fire was ignited by an overheated halogen lamp. Although approximately 200 tonnes of flour were lost due to fire damage, the vessel itself sustained minimal damage. Following the incident, local authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the ship's safety and seaworthiness before it was allowed to resume operations.
