In a notable development within the maritime industry, Jan De Nul Group has officially announced the acquisition of a portion of MPI Offshore, a subsidiary of Vroon Group. The agreement facilitates the transfer of MPI's offshore operations to the prominent Belgian company. As part of this strategic move, Jan De Nul will receive the jack-up vessel MPI DISCOVERY, complete with its crew, along with several employees from MPI. This acquisition is expected to bolster Jan De Nul’s capabilities in offshore operations and enhance its competitive edge in the sector.

MPI Offshore's wind turbine installation vessel, MPI Discovery, has officially resumed its operations at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, located off the southern coast of England, as confirmed by the company's recent announcement. Collaborating seamlessly with Swire Blue Ocean’s installation vessel, Pacific Orca, the MPI Discovery is set to continue the installation of 116 monopile foundations throughout the latter half of 2016. Installation work was temporarily paused in late April in adherence to the black bream spawning season but was successfully restarted at the beginning of July. This hiatus also allowed for a fruitful dry docking of MPI Discovery, ensuring the vessel is in peak condition. During this time, Pacific Orca was mobilized to support the ongoing foundation installation efforts.
