On July 5, 2019, a maritime crisis unfolded when the fishing vessel "Helot" found itself tilting precariously at a 45-degree angle to its port side, approximately 50 kilometers from Hvide Sande. The vessel was battling a two-meter swell with a crew of six on board. At 1:45 p.m., the crew was safely evacuated aboard one of the rescue boats dispatched from Hvide Sande Rescue Station.
