NYK Line has proudly announced the acquisition of its latest vessel, the 'Wugang Innovation', a formidable 250,000 DWT class WOZMAX ore carrier, recently constructed by Namura Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. This new addition represents the second of its kind, specifically designed to optimize the maximum loading capacity permitted at ports in Western Australia, known for its strict limitations on the load draft of vessels carrying ore. The delivery and naming ceremony was a momentous occasion attended by notable figures, including Zhu Jiangyue, Chief Procurement Officer at Wuhan Iron & Steel (Group) Corp. (WISCO), and Hidenori Hono, NYK's Representative Director and Senior Managing Corporate Officer, among other distinguished guests. The 'Wugang Innovation' will be chartered to WISCO exclusively for a period of 20 years, focusing on transporting iron ore primarily from Australia and Africa to China. This partnership marks NYK's first contract with WISCO as the company bolsters its commitment to ensuring a reliable supply chain for natural resources.
