Massive BorWin Gamma HVDC Platform Successfully Installed in German North Sea
A significant milestone in renewable energy has been achieved with the installation of the BorWin gamma High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) platform, weighing an impressive 18,000 tonnes, on its jacket foundation in the North Sea. Positioned within the German sector, this vital infrastructure is set to provide green energy to over one million households across Germany. The colossal converter was transported by the heavy lift vessel Xiang He Kou, which played a crucial role in the float-over installation process at the designated site, located more than 80 miles off the German coastline. The Xiang He Kou arrived earlier this month after a journey from Drydocks World’s Dubai Shipyard, where the BorWin gamma has been under construction since 2014.
