Detention of Xin Hai Tong 21 in Dongjiakou
On July 26, 2026, the vessel 'Xin Hai Tong 21' faced detention while docked in Dongjiakou due to two significant deficiencies. The first issue, identified as 07123, related to fire safety, specifically the operation of fire protection systems, which did not fall under the responsibility of the Recognized Organization (RO). The second deficiency, noted as 04101, involved the emergency systems, particularly the public address system, also not attributable to the RO. Fortunately, after addressing these concerns, the ship was able to resume operations and was released the following day, July 27.
Bulk Carrier Allides with Quay in Savona Due to Loose Mooring
On September 1, 2018, the bulk carrier 'Guerdianship' experienced an unexpected incident in the port of Savona. While the cruise ship 'Costa Diadema' was departing, the vessel's maneuvers led to a broken mooring wire of the 'Guerdianship,' which had just docked at the Monfer Dry Bulk Terminal on August 30 after arriving from Las Palmas. As a result, the bulk carrier allided with the quay, causing some damage. Despite the incident, the 'Costa Diadema' continued its journey and successfully reached Marseille on schedule on September 2 at 8 a.m.
Tragic Incident Claims Life of Chief Officer at Beaumont Dock
On August 12, 2014, a tragic workplace accident at the Mobil refinery dock in Beaumont resulted in the untimely death of a crew member from the "Mystic Striker". The incident involved Russian chief officer Andrey Pakholchuk, aged 44, who was fatally injured when a mooring line unexpectedly snapped, leading to his fall onto the deck below around 1:45 p.m. Following the accident, emergency response teams, including the ExxonMobil Emergency Response team and Beaumont EMS, arrived promptly to render assistance. Despite their efforts, Pakholchuk was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Ransom Jones, who has since ordered an autopsy to further investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event. Authorities are continuing their investigation pending the results of the autopsy.
