Bulk Carrier 'Xin Hai Tong 37' Runs Aground at Ahırkapı Anchorage
On the evening of March 21, 2025, around 9 p.m. UTC, the bulk carrier 'Xin Hai Tong 37', en route from Burgas to Mozambique, encountered trouble and ran aground at Ahırkapı Anchorage, located at coordinates 40° 57' N 028° 51' E. The vessel was reported to be in a loaden condition at the time of the incident. In response, the Coastal Safety authorities swiftly dispatched the lifeboats 'Kiyiemniyet 4' (MMSI: 271010032), 'Kiyiemniyet 3' (MMSI: 271010031), along with the tugboat 'Kurtarma 7' (IMO: 9598608) to assist with the emergency. A pilot and a diver team were also sent to assess the state of the hull. Salvage operations commenced promptly with no injuries or environmental pollution reported from the grounding. Remarkably, the ship was successfully refloated and re-anchored on March 28 at the new position of 40° 56' N 028° 52' E, where it remained stable as of April 2.
