Mihran Lighter Capsizes Near Chittagong: Crew Rescued
In a maritime incident that unfolded on the morning of June 16, 2016, the lighter vessel "Mihran" capsized approximately 20 kilometers south of Sandwip while transporting 1,850 tonnes of cement clinker. The vessel was en route to Narayanganj from Chittagong when cracks developed in its hull, leading to the unfortunate capsizing. The "Mihran" had recently loaded the cargo from the bulk carrier "Fu Quan Shan" at the outer anchorage of Chittagong Port and was making its way to Shah Cement Ghat. Fortunately, swift action from the crew of two other crossing lighter vessels resulted in the successful rescue of all 13 crew members on board.
