In a maritime incident that unfolded on the morning of June 16, 2016, the lighter vessel "Mihran" capsized approximately 20 kilometers south of Sandwip while transporting 1,850 tonnes of cement clinker. The vessel was en route to Narayanganj from Chittagong when cracks developed in its hull, leading to the unfortunate capsizing.
