Working Conditions Aboard the Zy-Juhe

A brazen theft unfolded at the Eko Support Terminal within the bustling Apapa Port Complex in Lagos early on March 15, 2026. Around 4:00 a.m., intruders targeted the 'Zy Juhe' vessel, executing a swift operation before fleeing the scene. The assailants astonishingly evaded capture by leaping overboard and escaping in a nearby speedboat after the ship’s alarm system was triggered. Reports indicate that the thieves made off with five tins of paint from the vessel's aft storage, along with a crew member’s mobile phone. Initial investigations revealed that the robbers gained entry without the assistance of a ladder, potentially due to inadequate lighting surrounding the paint storage area - a factor that may have facilitated this security lapse. Although safety personnel aboard raised the alarm and sounded whistles, their efforts went unnoticed by nearby security teams.
