Amphitrite Secures New Charters Amidst Operational Challenges

In recent maritime developments, the Amphitrite, a bulk carrier, has successfully secured new time charters, enhancing its operational profile following an incident at Roberts Bank. The vessel is set to embark on a charter beginning in Southern China, with delivery scheduled between January 27 and February 10, at a rate of $12,750 for a minimum of 14 months and a maximum of 17 months, alongside an additional $5,000 for the first five days of the charter period, contracted to Uniper.

Previously, the Amphitrite experienced a minor collision while departing from berth 2 at Roberts Bank's Westshore Terminal in British Columbia on December 20, 2018. The incident involved the assisting tug Seaspan Osprey, resulting in minor damage to both vessels. Fortunately, the bulk carrier continued its journey, departing Vancouver on December 21, 2018, bound for Fangcheng with an estimated time of arrival set for January 18, 2019.

Additionally, the vessel has secured another charter upon its delivery to Amsterdam, which includes a trip via Drummond and around the Cape of Good Hope, with redelivery planned for Japan at lucrative daily rates of $18,500 under the contract with Jera. This new charter further signifies the growing reliance on Amphitrite in the competitive shipping landscape despite earlier navigational challenges.
