Technical Troubles Plague the Finlaggan on Islay Route

The Finlaggan, a crucial ferry operating on the Kennacraig - Islay route, has faced a series of technical challenges that have impacted its sailing schedule recently. On June 8, 2026, essential works were needed on the port side main engine due to technical issues, causing a delay to the scheduled 12:35 p.m. departure from Port Askaig. After the repairs were completed, the ferry finally set sail 25 minutes late.

The troubles did not end there; on July 3, the vessel encountered another setback when it suffered an issue with its rescue boat. The scheduled 3:35 p.m. departure from Port Askaig was subsequently delayed, with the ferry eventually leaving the dock at 5:35 p.m., two hours behind schedule.

Additionally, just a week later on July 10, further technical difficulties arose, leading to another delay for the Finlaggan, which disrupted the planned sailing from Kennacraig at 1 p.m.
