On November 24, 2017, a pilot experienced a serious accident while boarding the vessel 'Aasnes' at Elbe Port Brunsbüttel. As he climbed the pilot ladder from the tender boat 'Explorer', he fell back onto the tender and subsequently tumbled two meters onto its main deck. This unfortunate incident necessitated hospital treatment for the pilot. The investigation revealed that broken ropes on the pilot ladder were the primary cause of the fall, as reported by the injured pilot himself. Subsequently, the 'Aasnes' departed from Brunsbüttel at 11 p.m. heading for Ijmuiden, before continuing its journey to Purfleet, with an estimated time of arrival on November 28.
