An oil spill occurred on January 7, 2017, involving the vessel 'Rich Mighty' while docked in Vladivostok. The incident transpired during a bunkering operation when a fuel leak developed on the main deck due to damage in the bunkering hose. Approximately 50-60 liters of fuel spilled onto the ice situated between the ship's deck and the dock. Prompt action was taken by the crew, who immediately halted the fuel transfer and alerted local authorities regarding the spill. In response, hazardous materials and environmental teams arrived at the scene to monitor and evaluate the extent of water pollution. It was reported that the affected area spanned approximately 1,200 square meters. Environmental response teams initiated water cleansing efforts and removed around 600 kg of contaminated ice remnants. The remediation efforts successfully eliminated the pollution, allowing the 'Rich Mighty' to depart the port on January 9, heading to Miyako as its next destination.
