CMA CGM Group has announced significant upgrades to its direct weekly shipping services that connect the India Middle East Gulf with key East African markets, effective February 20, 2017. The enhancements include two direct services featuring a robust fleet of nine vessels, each with a capacity of up to 3,500 TEU, and a total of 12 port calls. The Swahili Express service is specifically tailored to serve Kenya and Tanzania, boasting impressive transit times that allow for delivery to Mombasa from Mundra in just 12 days, and to Dar Es Salaam in only 14 days. Additionally, the Noura Express service will see improved transit efficiency to Somalia, reducing the journey time to Mogadishu port to 7 days from Jebel Ali and to 17 days from Mundra. Starting from the m/v CHIEF, which will be at Nhava Sheva on February 24, 2017, the Swahili service will operate with four dedicated vessels. Notably, CMA CGM will introduce a direct call to Mombasa, enhancing its logistical capabilities in complement to the existing call at Dar Es Salaam. Furthermore, the port coverage at the origin will see an upgrade with the addition of two direct port calls in India. However, it is important to note that the Longoni and Zanzibar calls will be discontinued as part of these changes.
