On September 12, 2025, a significant maritime rescue operation unfolded as the cargo vessel 'Admiral de Ribas' responded to a distress call from the JRCC of the Greek Coast Guard. While on its passage from Damietta, the ship successfully located and rescued 59 migrants in dire need of assistance, just south of Gavdos.
