On February 25, 2011, piracy struck again in the waters south of Oman, just hours after the 'MSC Kalina' faced an attack. A group of five pirates in a skiff launched a daring assault on the 'Great Legend,' a supramax bulk carrier, in the same vicinity. Armed with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and small arms, the assailants targeted the vessel, which successfully evaded the assault. It is highly probable that the same group of pirates was responsible for both incidents, indicating a coordinated effort in the area. The 'Great Legend' is crewed by 23 individuals, all reported to be Chinese nationals, with no injuries reported from the encounter. Both vessels are understood to be registered with the appropriate naval authorities, which are actively involved in conducting counter-piracy operations in this volatile region.
