MARITIME INCIDENT: ALLISION OF REM FORTUNE WITH OFFSHORE PLATFORM 2/4J
On January 23, 2011, an incident occurred involving the vessel 'Rem Fortune' (IMO: 9463504) which allided with one of the legs of the offshore platform 2/4J. At the time of the incident, the platform was housing a crew of 444 members, and the 'Rem Fortune' was engaged in delivering goods to the rig. Preliminary investigations indicated a failure in the transmission of the dynamic positioning system, responsible for controlling the bow thrusters based on GPS data. Following the allision, the 'Rem Fortune' made its way to Tananger, where it docked around midnight on January 24 for further investigations. The vessel sustained damage, particularly to its antenna mast, which was subsequently removed for repairs at the Rosenberg yard.
