In a significant maritime incident, the bulk carrier "Persenk" (IMO: 9578995) collided with the cargo vessel "Ahmet Can" while navigating the Marmara Sea on May 18, 2019, at approximately 10:30 a.m. The collision occurred in the stretch of water between Marmara Island and the port of Tekirdag, causing damage to both vessels. Following the accident, the bulk carrier "Persenk" proceeded towards the Tekirdag Anchorage, successfully mooring at coordinates 40° 56.99' N 027° 32.58' by 12:30 p.m. In a similar move, the "Ahmet Can" dropped anchor at a nearby position of 40° 58.04' N 027° 32.43' E. At the time of the incident, the "Persenk" was traveling from Istanbul to Ashdod, while the "Ahmet Can" was en route from Istanbul to Izmir. After remaining anchored for several days, the "Persenk" departed from Tekirdag on May 24, with plans to reach Izmir by May 28.

On the evening of December 3, 2018, the vessel 'Ahmet Kan' experienced a mechanical failure while navigating approximately 10 miles northwest of Straf Kafireas. Despite the ongoing issues, the crew of 12 did not call for assistance. The ship was on its voyage from Abu Qir, heading towards Thessaloniki. A nearby patrol boat provided an escort to ensure the vessel's safety as it made its way to Karystos Bay. Once it reached the port of Karystos, 'Ahmet Kan' was temporarily detained for necessary repairs and a class inspection. Following the completion of these measures, the ship successfully arrived in Thessaloniki on December 6, anchoring just outside the harbor at 2:20 a.m.
