Ak-Discovery Vessel Reviews and Specifications

A fire ignited in the engine room of the vessel 'AK Discovery' on April 25, 2024, as it was navigating the waters near Akbaş during its journey from Abu Qir to Varna through the Dardanelles. The incident prompted a swift response coordinated by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, which successfully extinguished the flames. Following the firefighting efforts, cooling operations were underway to ensure the safety of the ship. Once these operations were complete, the 'AK Discovery' was taken in tow by the tug 'Kurtarma 13' (IMO: 9913573). The Çanakkale Ship Traffic Services Center managed the operation as the vessel, assisted by the tug 'Türkeli' and a pilot, was escorted to Karanlık Liman and safely moored at the coordinates 40° 01.08' N 026° 16.40' E.
