On the evening of May 20, 2020, the tanker 'Aleksandr Shemagn' met with an incident while navigating the Volga River near Balakovo in the Saratov Region. While traveling upstream from Volgograd to Kashpir, the vessel deviated from its intended path and unexpectedly veered to the port side. This miscalculation resulted in the tanker sliding along the shore protection for several meters before finally coming to a halt.
