On the night of March 1, 2018, at approximately 11 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Hav Sand,' en route from Szczecin to Esbjerg, encountered an allision with the tail end of the Northern lock of the Kiel Canal in Kiel-Holtenau. As the vessel was maneuvering to enter the lock, it unexpectedly veered to starboard, potentially due to a sudden gust of wind or an erroneous steering adjustment. The impact caused the ship's bulwark to strike the lock wall, leading to deformation of two plates. Fortunately, after assessing the damage, the 'Hav Sand' was cleared to resume its journey at 12:30 a.m., with an estimated arrival in Esbjerg set for March 3.

On the afternoon of February 21, 2017, an incident occurred aboard the vessel "Hav Sand" as an excavator ignited at the Biomar plant in Myre. The diligent crew swiftly extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of the municipal fire department. Although paramedics were dispatched to the scene, the driver of the excavator was thankfully unharmed and only received a precautionary examination. One individual involved in the firefighting efforts required medical attention but did not sustain serious injuries. Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have originated from the engine of the excavator.
