On October 15, 2023, the Port Authority of Corfu received an alert from the captain of the ferry 'Alkinoos' regarding a mechanical issue just before its scheduled departure. The vessel was set to transport 185 passengers, alongside 34 cars, 9 commercial vehicles, three buses, and two motorcycles to Igoumenitsa. Consequently, the Central Port Authority of Corfu halted the ferry's departure until the necessary repairs were completed and a class maintenance certificate was provided by the relevant classification society. On the night of April 30, a significant disruption occurred at the Port Authority of Igoumenitsa when a 37-year-old Greek national was taken into custody. The individual, who is the co-driver and owner of a refrigerated truck, was apprehended for violating articles 169 (Disobedience) and 292 (Obstruction of Transport) of the Greek Criminal Code. His refusal to adhere to directives from port authorities to leave the ferry 'Alkinoos'—due to not possessing proper tickets—led to a critical delay in the vessel's departure. Ultimately, with the help of another professional driver, the truck was safely escorted off the ship, allowing the ferry to set sail with 295 passengers on board 1.40 hours behind schedule. Additionally, the truck had initially been loaded onto the ferry by a 63-year-old local driver, who experienced a medical issue during the incident and required transport to the Emergency Department of Igoumenitsa. Following examination and subsequent hospitalization at the General Hospital of Filiates, he was released and later arrested around noon. The Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa is currently conducting a preliminary investigation into the matter.

This unfortunate event prevented the vessel from embarking on its scheduled journey to Corfu, carrying 14 cargo vehicles and 13 passengers. In response to the situation, the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa promptly prohibited the ferry from departing until necessary repairs were completed and a class maintenance certificate was provided by the overseeing classification society. Following the completion of the repairs, the 'Alkinoos' was finally cleared to leave the port at 10:40 a.m.

On January 23, 2022, the Central Port Authority of Corfu received an important notification from the Captain of the ferry 'Alkinoos'. The vessel, which was on its routine voyage from Igoumenitsa to Corfu, reported the loss of its port side anchor upon arriving at the dock. Fortunately, the ship was able to dock without incident. To address the situation, a private diver was engaged to locate and retrieve the lost anchor from the seabed. After successful recovery, the anchor's chain underwent necessary repairs. A subsequent examination by Local Ship Inspection confirmed that the anchor was functioning properly, leading to the lifting of the sailing ban. Thanks to prompt actions, the 'Alkinoos' is back on course, ensuring continued service for travelers.
