Allegra Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On the evening of December 26, 2016, the bulk carrier 'Allegra', which had departed from Newport, UK on December 23, faced a critical situation while navigating southeast of Heligoland. The vessel experienced a main engine failure, causing it to drift in turbulent waters. The German emergency tug, 'Nordic', was promptly dispatched to the scene to aid the imperiled ship, which was at risk of grounding on a nearby sandbar called Knechtsand. Upon arrival, the 'Nordic' successfully took the 'Allegra' in tow, escorting her to safety at a mooring located 100 meters away from the dangerous bar, where they remained until the storm subsided. On December 27, as conditions improved, three additional tugs—'Elbe' (IMO: 9323156), 'Ems' (IMO: 9323168), and 'Turm' (IMO: 9211212)—were summoned from Wilhelmshaven and Bremerhaven. These vessels commenced towing the 'Allegra' towards Bremerhaven, where she finally docked at the Lloyd Yard at 10:45 a.m. on December 28. The ship is undergoing repairs at the German Dry Dock (GDD).
