On April 13, 2025, the bulk carrier 'Altzek', laden with coal and en route from Nacala, Nampula to Poland via Las Palmas, suffered a significant incident when an explosion in the engine room triggered a fire. Fortunately, the vessel's dedicated crew quickly managed to extinguish the flames before the situation escalated. Responding promptly, four tugs equipped with fire-fighting resources from CFM-Logistic and Corredor Logístico Norte were dispatched to the location, but their assistance was no longer needed. Despite the quick action, four crew members experienced minor injuries; however, they were deemed out of danger and received treatment at a clinic in Nacala after being safely transported back to the port.
