Built at Shanghai Shipyard Co., Ltd., the ‘Américo Vespúcio’ was officially delivered on August 23, 2013. Following the completion of necessary import procedures, the ship began its journey by loading its first containers for the Aliança cabotage service on October 14 in Manaus. With a slot capacity of 3,800 TEU, the ‘Explorer’ series vessels almost double the container capacity of Aliança’s previous ships operating in this segment. Additionally, Aliança is set to hold the naming ceremony for the final ship in the series, the ‘Pedro Álvares Cabral,’ early next year in Brazil.
