On October 24, 2016, the general cargo vessel Amur-2505 found itself aground at the 2837-kilometer mark of the Volga River. The ship, which was transporting 2,110 tons of carbamide from Turkmenistan to Rostov-on-Don, experienced engine failure that took it off the designated fairway, causing it to become stuck in a muddy shallows. Despite the crew's repeated efforts to dislodge the vessel using its own power, they were unsuccessful and subsequently requested help from local maritime authorities. Collision Between Onix and Amur 2505 in the Azov Sea

Jan 17, 2011 21:27

On January 16, 2011, a maritime incident occurred involving the cargo vessel 'Onix' and the 'Amur 2505', which was en route from Istanbul through the Azov Sea, positioned at coordinates 46 51 08 N 037 33 44 E. The 'Onix' sustained significant damage, including a breach in ballast tank areas No. 7 and 8, alongside a 50 cm fuel tank that contained 20 metric tons of diesel; however, no fuel spill was reported, likely due to the nighttime conditions at the time of the collision. Additionally, the vessel's superstructure and wheelhouse were compromised, resulting in a temporary list. The crew managed to restore the vessel's balance by taking on ballast in the starboard tanks and subsequently switched off the main engine, leaving the generator operational. Meanwhile, the 'Amur 2505' incurred minor damage at the bow. Eventually, around 4 p.m., the m/v 'Fobos' initiated towing operations, guiding the 'Onix' towards Kerch port. Both vessels successfully reached the Kerch anchorage at 10 a.m. Moscow time on January 17, 2011, for necessary repairs.
