In a bold step to provide assistance, the Turkish non-governmental organization IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has acquired three ships to spearhead a humanitarian convoy to Gaza. While the IHH has been operating relief routes from Turkey to Egypt for cross-border transit into Gaza, this new initiative promotes an all-sea passage. The foundation is set to dispatch its 'Freedom Flotilla,' comprising three reflagged and renamed vessels to serve this mission. The flotilla includes the cargo ship 'Anadolu,' formerly known as 'Dalya H,' currently docked in Iskenderun. It also features the passenger vessel 'Vicdan,' previously named 'The Majestic' and 'Kloar Kimming,' alongside the freight vessel 'Akdeniz,' earlier referred to as 'Prince,' which is positioned at the Desan Yardgem United Shipyards in Tuzla. Scheduled to embark by the end of April, the IHH is calling for support through fundraising efforts to finance the ships and their essential cargo aimed at aiding those in need in Gaza.
