The Anina: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In response to the challenging winter weather that has impacted the North Atlantic, Hapag-Lloyd has announced changes to its St. Lawrence Coordinated Service 2 (AT2). According to a press release from the company, the vessels currently operating in this service have been unable to maintain their schedules due to extraordinary rough conditions. To address these disruptions, Hapag-Lloyd is taking proactive measures by chartering two additional vessels: the MV 'Colette' and the MV 'Anina.' The company assures that once these chartered sailings are completed, its regular fleet will resume their normal long-term schedules, ensuring that service reliability is restored.

Hapag-Lloyd is set to introduce its latest offering, the Finland Express (FIX) service, enhancing connectivity between key German hubs and strategic ports across the Gulf of Finland and the Gulf of Bothnia. This dedicated weekly service is scheduled to kick off in April 2013, according to an official announcement from the company. The FIX will be deployed using two vessels, with the MV Anina departing Hamburg on April 2, 2013, and the MV Hanse Confidence leaving Bremerhaven on April 8, 2013. Notably, the FIX will complement the existing Russia Express (REX), thereby facilitating a second weekly connection to and from major ports in Russia and Finland.

In a recent maritime incident, the container ship "OOCL Finnland" (IMO 9354351) was involved in a collision with the vessel "Tyumen 2". Following the accident, "OOCL Finnland" was released from the scene at 7:30 PM on April 14, 2023, resuming its journey towards Gdynia, with an expected arrival time set for 9 PM on April 15. Meanwhile, the "Tyumen 2" has been towed to Rendsburg for an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The timeline for raising the wheelhouse remains uncertain. As investigations continue, traffic through the canal is currently limited to one-lane operations at the accident site until all debris is cleared.
