The Ankie: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On January 12, 2015, the cargo ship 'Ankie' encountered a significant engine failure while sailing northwest of Gotland. The vessel was making its way from Hamburg to Inkoo, carrying a shipment of steel cables when it began drifting with a speed of one knot. Fortunately, weather conditions were mild, allowing for safe recovery efforts. The Swedish Coastguard promptly dispatched the patrol boat 'KBV 003 - Amfitrite' to offer assistance. Additionally, the Faroese-flagged tug 'Freja' (IMO: 9175262) was mobilized from Oxelösund at 2:30 p.m. to aid in stabilizing the situation. The tug successfully reached the 'Ankie' later that afternoon, and the vessel was securely moored in Oxelösund by 8:30 a.m. on January 13.
