On December 15, 2019, the bulk carrier ANSAC Pride experienced a significant engine overheating incident while navigating 32 miles southeast of Lizard Point, located at coordinates 49°30'42" N and 004°44'48" W. The ship, which was transporting 15,100 tonnes of timber and had a crew of 21 members, reported the overheating at approximately 10:10 a.m. Repairs were anticipated to take between three to ten hours, prompting immediate investigations to uncover the underlying cause of the malfunction.
